Banana Porridge with Honey

This is really yummy and satisfying, I love that there is a range of healthy things that go into this dish. This recipe is suitable for vegetarians, is dairy free and is from Carol Vorderman’s Detox Recipes book. The oats contain magnesium and zinc and soluble fibre with is excellent for improving digestion and lowering cholesterol. Oats provide slow release energy which will keep you going. The almonds and seeds provide essential fats to help balance hormone levels and promote healthy looking skin.

Makes 4 servings

  • 175g porridge oats
  • 250ml dairy free milk
  • 250ml water
  • 1-2 tablespoons linseed oil
  • 4 tablespoons raisins
  • 2 tablespoons ground almonds
  • 1 tablespoon toasted pumpkin seeds
  • 2 sliced bananas
  • 1 tablespoon honey

Mix the oats, milk and water in a saucepan. Bring to the boil and simmer for 4-5 minutes stirring frequently.

Stir in the linseed oil, raisins, almonds and seeds.

Spoon into bowls and serve topped with the sliced banana and honey.
